What a professional cleaning does
Plaque is a soft, sticky film of bacteria that forms on teeth every day. Brushing and flossing remove most of it, but plaque that stays behind hardens into tartar (also called calculus), and a toothbrush cannot remove tartar.
At a professional cleaning, your dentist removes plaque and tartar from the teeth and along the gum line (scaling), then polishes the teeth to lift surface stains and leave them smooth. It is done together with a check-up, so small problems such as early decay or gum inflammation are found before they need bigger treatment.
We clean teeth for children and adults, every day from 9 am to 10 pm, opposite Karama Centre.

Scaling and polishing, explained
Scaling uses an ultrasonic scaler and fine hand instruments to loosen and remove hardened tartar. You will feel a light vibration and a cool water spray, and hear a high-pitched sound.
Polishing comes next. A gentle paste removes surface stains and leaves the teeth smooth, which makes it harder for new plaque to stick. The whole appointment usually takes 30 to 45 minutes.
